Main Control Systems in place
Voiced by Amazon Polly

When we renovated the International 14, we did a full refit to Championship spec, everything was replaced and we choose to use Harken as our fittings supplier. Which meant we had a 14‘s worth of Allen blocks laying about so we reused a lot of those for the 600. Below for information is what we would have done had we not had those blocks lying about.

The continuous take up systems take a large proportion of the blocks used, 40% so the impact on doing those is significant. Cost wise low fiction rings are marginally cheaper than the Allen 20mm Dynamic blocks we used, but have higher friction, we would probably still gone for the blocks over the rings, even if we hadn’t had the blocks already.

In terms of the different manufacturers, we use Harken for ‘Championship’ spec boats and would have used their 16mm blocks for the take-ups and their 18mm carbo blocks for the loaded parts of the control systems. We did use the Harken blocks we had left over from the 14 for the forestay and bought the other Harken blocks used for the mainsheet.

In total we used 32 blocks across all the systems, 13 of which where parts of the take up systems, for the Cunningham and Vang.

Some ropes we specifically ordered for the boat, so we will give the lengths we ordered, some we used line we already had and they where cut and spliced to a length specific to us.

All rope was ordered from BoatRopes.co.uk
